Integrating reprocessed polypropylene (PP) granules into industrial manufacturing lines requires a clear understanding of their technical properties. Here, we analyze the key properties of recycled PP granules and how they compare to virgin materials.
Melt Flow Index (MFI) and Viscosity
The Melt Flow Index (MFI) determines the flowability of molten PP. For injection molding, MFIs typically range from 12 to 25 g/10 min, while extrusion requires lower MFIs (typically 2 to 8 g/10 min). We control batch mixing to deliver consistent MFI ranges as per customer requirements.
Density and Mechanical Strength
Recycled PP maintains a low density of around 0.90 to 0.92 g/cm³, which is excellent for lightweighting automotive parts and structural crates. Its high tensile strength and fatigue resistance make it highly durable for repeated stress applications.
Thermal Stability
Reprocessed PP retains its high melting point (approx. 160°C to 165°C), allowing it to withstand high-temperature washing or filling processes in industrial applications.
